Brodgon Electric

This is us

After serving the community of North Myrtle Beach and surrounding areas for 33 years, Brogdon Electric, Inc. has begun a new and exciting era with the transition of ownership in this family business from William (Butch) Brogdon to his grandson, Drew Smith. Drew is the son of Buzzy & Missy Smith and is married to McKenzie Cox Smith, a pharmacist with CVS Pharmacies.

Brogdon Electric first opened for business in 1985 in a small building on 2nd Avenue North and in 2003 bought out Oceanique Electric from retiring owner, Steve Bostian. The company continues to operate from 1010 6th Avenue South. Brogdon Electric has provided electrical wiring for up to 165 new homes a year along with commercial services to customers in North and South Carolina, Georgia and as far as Kentucky.

Paul Northrup went to work with Brogdon Electric in 1996 in a supervisory position until 1999 when he became an electrical inspector with the City of North Myrtle Beach for several years. He returned to work with Brogdon in 2014 and continues as General Manager.

With retirement in mind and looking to the future of Brogdon Electric, Butch was thrilled to find that the company would continue in the capable hands of his grandson after he retired December 31st. Drew is one of his seven grandsons and twin brother of North Myrtle Beach Police Officer, Kyle Smith. Drew is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and has spent years in the field learning the ins and outs of the electrical profession. He has done the hard work - crawling in hot attics and under houses to commercial remodels and repairs. He has completed all the requirements and is certified and licensed as an Electrical Contractor in both North and South Carolina.

All the employees have rallied around their new boss and support the new ownership, from the technicians and helpers to the office staff including Missy Brogdon Smith (mother of the new owner) and Carolyn Scabery (who came with the company after four years with Oceanique Electric). Butch will be missed around the office but all the employees wish him a happy and fun retirement.

Brogdon Electric has survived building booms and building busts and hurricanes for the past 33 years by providing quality service to both residential and commercial customers at reasonable prices. All of our customers become part of the "Brogdon Family", a tradition that will continue for the next 33 years plus.
